Badri Pande's Plans to Boost Nepal's Tourism Sector

Minister Pande highlighted the importance of cultural preservation, stating that culture is the essence of the nation and requires proper attention and protection

The newly appointed Minister of Culture, tourist, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pande, has declared that the tourist policy will be updated to promote the growth of the industry. As he took office at Singha Durbar on Monday, he promised to implement initiatives to increase tourism by utilizing the updated policy's newfound opportunities.

Minister Pande, a member of the Nepali Congress who was elected in the general election of 2079BS, represents Bajura's first seat. He was born in the district of Bajura in 2030BS. Since getting involved in student politics, he has held a number of positions within the Nepali Congress, where he started his political career in 2043BS. His political science master's degree is from Tribhuvan University.

Minister Pande formed a task team within the ministry, headed by a joint secretary, to create a timely policy. He was optimistic that when national politics stabilize, tourism would flourish in the nation. Furthermore, he noted that the travel and tourist sector, which was severely damaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, is starting to recover. He acknowledged the ministry's staff members' ongoing contribution in government operations and underlined the necessity of an efficient plan to achieve tourism goals.

Minister Pande also highlighted the importance of cultural preservation, stating that culture is the essence of the nation and requires proper attention and protection. He approved the formation of a task force to examine and make recommendations for expanding the Tourism Policy, 2065, under the direction of Joint Secretary Hemraj Tamang.

In order to promote tourism, he emphasized how important it is to run international airports and the national flag carrier effectively. Dr. Harka Gurung served as the State Minister for Tourism when the ministry was initially founded in 2034BS, making Minister Pande the 41st Minister of Tourism of Nepal.
