Providing a contemporary twist to culture driven influence, Salincha brings heat to the table

An up-and-coming place located in the Jhamsikhel area, Salincha is a diamond in the rough. Well-lit with fairy lights in the evening, it exudes a warm vibe. Traditional photos of Nepal and wise sayings adorn the walls leading to a much more meaningful dining experience. Combined with the friendly staff and the gentle lull of soothing instrumentals, this place definitely deserves a second-visit.

A restaurant which serves Newari Cuisine with a modern twist, Salincha brings authenticity to the table. A lot of trial and errors were made in the experimentation phase to be able to give diners a near-perfect dish. Not only that, to give customers variety to their palate, continental foods can also be seen on the menu. So, basically you have everything you might want on the table.

Egg Benedict

How many time have you heard ‘eat breakfast like a king’ ? For me, it’s always. I don’t really have an appetite in the morning but this dish has me reconsidering that. A breakfast menu, the Egg Benedict served here comes with an Italian influence. An open-faced sandwich consisting of potato croquettes and topped off with ham and a poached egg, the Egg Benedict is a mouth-watering treat. With hollandaise sauce drizzled on top generously, it will have you gearing for more in no time.

Mustang Aaloo

Spice up your day by daring and ordering this dish. Fried in ghee and jimbu this dish is mildly spicy, but the acchar which accompanies it is ‘the’ bomb. Made using only chilies, the sauce will blow your rockers off. Kind of like the improved version of french-fries but with the added spiciness, it is sure to be a dish to be remembered.

Chatamari

A traditional Newari dish made using rice flour, egg and mixed spices like cumin powder and ginger-garlic paste; Chatamari is like a crepe with toppings of your choice. It was my first time having this and to be honest, it not only exceeded my expectations but went wide above it. Garnished with minced buffalo meat, diced onions and scallions, this savoury dish is equal parts soft and crunchy giving you an exquisite taste of Newari cuisine.

Samay Baji

Eating a little bit of everything is sure to keep someone healthy. In Newari culture, this thought is incorporated in a single dish known as Samay Baji. Consisting of a lentil pancake (woh), grilled meat (choila), soybeans, peanuts, ginger slices, beaten rice, spiced potato and a boiled egg which has been fried, the Samay Baji served was a delectable treat. It also came with a side dish of potato curry which had a tantalising taste and is also served with ayla (rice wine) in a traditional clay pot (Salincha). Full of flavours, this dish truly garners appreciation for Newari cuisine.

Grilled Chicken Salad

An amazing option for healthy-food enthusiasts, the chicken is grilled and tossed together with Spanish olives, chopped onions, cherry tomatoes, mixed lettuce and slices of beetroot with a zesty pomegranate sauce as the dressing. Tender and delicious, the Grilled Chicken Salad is a go-to dish if you are on a diet or if you are craving something light but fulfilling.

Hyderabadi Biryani

Served in a traditional brass pot, the Hyderabadi Biryani welcomes flavours from India.  With spices such as cardamom, cloves and cinnamon, the dish had a very tart fragrance. The chicken gravy had just the right touch of spices and was extremely mouth-watering. Combined with the cool dulcet raita that accompanied the dish, it was evenly balanced and pleasing to the taste buds. Generously portioned this dish really brought flavours all the way from Hyderabad.

Grilled Rosemary Chicken

Marinated with Oyster sauce, paprika and lemon juice among other such necessities like salt, pepper and chilli flakes, the grilled rosemary chicken was served with a side of broccoli and mashed potato. Succulent and tender, this dish was a treat for the palate. The slightly charred chicken also complemented the mashed potato and bought a flavoursome taste to it.

Just give Salincha a chance to show you its authenticity and you will not be let down. Full of a varied selection of food menu all of which are both pleasing to the eyes as well as the palate; go through them and have a taste of the piquant food which it is so famous for.
