I have had the privilege of working in the hospitality industry for many years, developing my skills and expertise in various esteemed establishments. My journey began in Thailand, where I developed a deep passion for culinary arts, particularly Thai cuisine. Over the years, I have traveled and worked in several countries, learning diverse culinary techniques and flavors. My expertise lies in food carvings and authentic Thai flavors. Now, as the Master Chef at Dusit Princess Kathmandu, I bring this wealth of experience to create memorable dining experiences for our guests.


How do you handle cultural differences and preferences when preparing international cuisine?


Respecting cultural differences and preferences is paramount in the culinary world. Each dish I prepare is crafted with a deep understanding of its cultural significance and traditional preferences. I strive to incorporate authentic ingredients and cooking methods, ensuring that every dish honors the culture it represents. In Nepal, I thoroughly research local ingredients and, as a Thai chef, work with my team to blend local flavors and interests with authentic Thai cuisine, creating a harmonious culinary experience for our guests.


How do you stay inspired and keep your passion for cooking alive?


My inspiration comes from watching mothers who make sacrifices to keep their families happy through their cooking. Seeing the smiles on people's faces because of the food I create keeps my passion alive. It is the joy and satisfaction of making others happy through my culinary art that continually inspires me as a Thai chef.


How do you perceive your role contributing to your organization and Nepal's hospitality sector?


As a Thai chef, I take great pride in introducing authentic Thai cuisine to our guests at Dusit Princess Kathmandu. My role is to ensure that every dining experience is exceptional, contributing to the overall reputation and success of our organization. By showcasing the richness of Thai culinary traditions and incorporating locally sourced ingredients from Nepal, I aim to enhance the diversity of Nepal's hospitality sector. There are many world-class Nepali ingredients, dishes made from local condiments that I want to highlight globally. My goal is to present these to the world and elevate the perception of Nepali cuisine and Thai cuisine.


For visitors, what cuisine in Nepal would you recommend the most?


I would highly recommend both Thai and Nepali cuisine. As a Thai chain, we offer world-class Thai food. Additionally, Nepali cuisine is equally exceptional and deserves global recognition. Whenever visitors come, they should experience the best of both.


What are some of the most rewarding aspects of being a chef?


The most rewarding aspect is seeing smiles on people's faces. As a chef, you not only get paid for your work but also receive blessings and gratitude from happy customers. It's a double situation, you earn a living and make people happy.


What are some of your favorite dishes to cook and why?


As a chef, it is essential to embrace all types of cuisine. I believe in mastering a wide range of dishes to meet our guests' diverse preferences. Every dish is unique and tells its own story, making each one special in its own way. Therefore, I don’t have a particular favorite,instead, I focus on learning and perfecting every dish I cook.


Any other issues you would like to talk about?


I would like to emphasize the need in promoting international tourism by the concerned authorities. To serve authentic international cuisines, we need streamlined import procedures for global ingredients. Additionally, the concerned authorities should focus on creating opportunities to showcase Nepali ingredients on the global stage. Tourism is a significant revenue source for Nepal, and food tourism should be a priority. Chefs in Nepal require support and streamlined access to international ingredients to present the best of global cuisine which is currently a challenge.
