Originating in the Punjab, a region in the northern part of Indian subcontinent, Punjabi cuisine has a rich tradition of many distinct and local ways of cooking. One is a special form of tandoori cooking that is now famous in other parts of India, UK, Cananda, Hong Kong and in many parts of the world.

The local cuisine of Punjab is heavily influenced by the agricultural and farming lifestyle prevalent from the times of the ancient Harappan Civilisation. Locally grown staple foods from the major part of the local cuisine. Distinctively Punjabi cuisine is known for its rich, buttery flavours along with the extensive vegetarian and meat dishes. Main dishes include sarson da saag (a stew whose main ingredient is mustard greens) and makki di roti (flatbread made with cornmeal).

Complementing the richness of Punjabi cuisine, Executive Chef of Vivanta Kathmandu Milind Kumbhare and his team has come up with four completely different buffet menus for their Punjabi food festival. With the idea of ‘Serving love on your plate the Punjabi way’, Vivanta Kathmandu will be hosting ‘Punjabi Dhamaka’, a 10-day tantalizing food festival.

Two packages; including alcohol and without alcohol will be available for guests to enjoy. For those who would opt for alcoholic package, the price is Rs 2000++. For those who do not want the alcohol, the price of the package is Rs 1700++.
