Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
As I landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the vibrant energy of Nepal engulfed me. One of the representatives from the trekking agency warmly welcomed me and escorted me to a comfortable 4-star hotel. Excitement filled the air as I eagerly anticipated the adventure that awaited me.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire
After indulging in a delicious breakfast at the hotel, I embarked on a scenic 6-7-hour drive to Jalbire. The journey offered breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains and picturesque rural villages. Riding on a bumpy road, we entered the Balephi Valley alongside the Balephi River, eventually reaching Jalbire. This quaint village is known for its rich Newari culture, which I couldn't wait to explore. As the day drew to a close, I settled into a cozy tented camp in Jalbire.
Day 3: Trek from Jalbire to Chanaute
Today, my Bhairav Kunda Trek truly began. I set foot on the enchanting trail, passing by captivating waterfalls and charming Tamang villages. After a 4-5 hour trek, I arrived at Chanaute, a small village predominantly inhabited by Brahmin and Chhetri communities. The genuine warmth and simplicity of the locals made me feel right at home. I spent the night in a tented camp, immersing myself in the tranquility of the surroundings.
Day 4: Trek from Chanaute to Khanigaon
The day began with an early start as I embarked on a longer and steeper trek towards Khanigaon. The 6-7-hour journey treated me to mesmerizing vistas of villages, terraced fields, and crystal-clear streams. Khanigaon, a charming Newari village, welcomed me with open arms. From the campsite, I marveled at the majestic mountain views that surrounded me, feeling a profound sense of awe and gratitude.
Day 5: Exploration day and village tour
Today was dedicated to exploring the beautiful village of Khanigaon and immersing myself in the local culture. I wandered through the village, visiting Dalle Pokhari and engaging in heartfelt conversations with the friendly Newar locals. Sampling their traditional cuisine and listening to their native dialect offered me a deeper understanding of their way of life. The day ended with me retiring to my tented camp, cherishing the memories made.
Day 6: Trek from Khanigaon to Forest Camp
Passing through enchanting rhododendron forests and pastoral landscapes, I made my way to the forest camp. The 6-7-hour trek was a delightful journey, encountering nomadic houses and catching glimpses of wild birds and animals. In the midst of nature's embrace, I pitched my tent at the Forest Camp, feeling a sense of serenity that only the Himalayas can provide.
Day 7: Trek from Forest Camp to Pati
Following a hearty breakfast, I embarked on a 5- to 6-hhour trek towards Pati. The climb became steeper and more challenging, but the promise of spectacular views motivated me to persevere. Along the way, I encountered humble pilgrim houses, adding a touch of spirituality to my adventure. Finally reaching Pati, I basked in the magnificence of the mountains from my campsite, relishing the sense of achievement.
Day 8: Trek from Pati to Bhairav Kunda
Today marked the day I had been eagerly awaiting—the trek to Bhairav Kunda, the holy lake. After an uphill walk for an hour, the path transformed into a leisurely stroll. Bhairav Kunda, a place of significance for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, greeted me with its ethereal beauty. The pristine lake, bathed in the full moon's glow, held a serene energy that enveloped me. In reverence, I explored the temple near the lake, connecting with the spirituality that permeated the surroundings.
Day 9: Trek from Bhairav Kunda to Sherpagaon
With a heavy heart, I bid farewell to Bhairav Kunda and commenced my trek towards Sherpagaon. As I trekked for an hour and a half to the summit, I witnessed a breathtaking sunrise and beheld panoramic views of the Langtang range, Jugal Himal range, and Rolwaling Himal. The steep descent through the enchanting rhododendron forest led me to Sherpagaon, where I settled into another tented camp, cherishing the final days of my adventure.
Day 10: Trek from Sherpagaon to Larcha and visit the Hot Spring
After a refreshing breakfast, I embarked on a steep downhill trek to Larcha, situated on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. At Larcha, I indulged in a visit to the natural hot spring of Tatopani, immersing myself in its soothing waters to rejuvenate my weary muscles. The experience was a delightful respite, allowing me to fully relax and reflect on the incredible journey I had undertaken.
Day 11: Drive from Larcha to Kathmandu
As my Bhairav Kunda Trek neared its end, I embarked on a 6-hour drive back to Kathmandu along the picturesque Araniko Highway. Gazing out at the countryside scenery, I reminisced about the awe-inspiring landscapes, cultural encounters, and spiritual experiences that had filled my soul. I settled into a comfortable 4-star hotel in Kathmandu, preparing to bid farewell to this enchanting country.
Day 12: Final Departure from Kathmandu
With a heart brimming with memories and gratitude, I enjoyed a fulfilling breakfast before bidding adieu to the incredible team at Swiss Family Treks & Expedition. Their unwavering guidance and exceptional service made my Bhairav Kunda Trek an unforgettable experience. As I was transferred to the airport, I reflected on the profound impact this journey had on me, vowing to return to Nepal to explore more of its wonders.
