Tamu Lhosar is the Gurung New Year festival in the Sikkim and Darjeeling regions of Nepal and India. It is celebrated every 15th Poush (December/January) of the Nepalese calendar. Like other Losars, Gurung also represents the years in his 12-year cycle depicting various creatures (Garuda, snakes, horses, sheep, monkeys, birds, dogs, deer, mice, cows, tigers and cats).
