The revered Rato Machindranath Jatra begins its journey from Pulchowk

The Rato Machindranath Jatra has commenced in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. On the first day, the chariot makes a trip from Pulchowk to Gabahal and in the next few days to Hakha Bahal Gali, Sundhara, and until it ends in Jawalakhel. The chariot of Rato Machindranath, also worshipped as the God of Rain and Harvest, is pulled and celebrated for a month. The 60-foot high chariot is hauled by thousands with much fervor.
