Starting off at 1:15 pm, the event was accompanied by soft soothing music played by the live band. The ceremony welcomed many distinguished guests such as the Chief of Mission of IOM (International Organisation for Migration), Lorena Lando, the General Manager of Turkish Airlines, Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, the Ambassador of the Russian Embassy, His Excellency Aleksei A. Novikov, the Ambassador of Qatar Embassy, His Excellency Yousef Mohammaed Al-Hail, Alina Novikova and Baba Sarkar Shrestha.
As with all traditional cake mixing ceremony dried fruits, nuts, herbs and spices were used along with rum and whiskey. Every day the mixture is checked to see if it has dried up because the dried nuts and fruits soak up all the liquids; if it has then more rum is added to enhance the flavours. On the week before Christmas, the final mixture is then used as an ingredient to prepare Christmas goodies such as ginger breads, Christmas puddings and a traditional Christmas cake.
The cake mixing ceremony ended with many clicks as the guests took a lot of photos to remind themselves of this fabulous afternoon followed soon by a barbecue meal and a buffet lunch.
