Sunita, born and brought up in Nepal, has a rich background in the hospitality industry. As a Hotel Management graduate, she began her career at the prestigious Hilton Hotel in Dubai, where she gained invaluable experience in restaurant and bar operations. She further enhanced her skills through training with the Marriott Group of Hotels in India. With over seven years of experience at the Dubai Hilton and Holiday Inn, Sunita is currently the Bar Manager at the renowned Soaltee Group of Hotels.
Her strong work ethic is characterized by dedication, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. Sunita consistently strives to provide exceptional service and create memorable experiences for her guests, reflecting her passion for the hospitality industry.
Could you share your journey and expertise in the hospitality industry?
I started my career at the Hilton Hotel in Dubai, where I worked across various areas, including all-day dining, Starbucks, and the Bay Club bar. This diverse experience allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of bar operations. Having a strong knowledge of barista, combined with expertise in bar managemnet and strong leadership skill, now I am heading 3 outlets at the Soaltee Kathmandu.
Could you recount a particularly memorable event or experience from your career?
Participating in and successfully executing various events have been highlights of my career, notably Bar and Food Festivals. Especially of NRN group and consulate events. One particularly memorable experience was coordinating a prestigious gala dinner at a consulate, where attention to detail and seamless execution were paramount. The event's success, marked by positive feedback from guests and organizers alike, reinforced my commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences and ensuring every event exceeds expectations.
What in your opinion needs to be done to help Nepal’s hospitality Industry flourish?
To foster growth in Nepal’s hospitality industry, it is essential to create more job opportunities designed to the skills of qualified candidates and offer fair compensation. Recognizing and retaining local talent ensures the delivery of exceptional service, thereby enhancing the overall standard of hospitality in the country. This approach not only improves guest experiences but also strengthens Nepal’s reputation as a destination known for quality hospitality, contributing positively to economic development and international recognition.
What are you passionate about or what keeps you entertained, motivated, refreshed?
I am deeply passionate about my job and never compromise on guest experience. Implementing innovative ideas to keep my outlets ahead in the market keeps me motivated and refreshed. I have a strong desire to learn and serve others, always inspired by the steady stream of fresh knowledge, concepts, and viewpoints. Whether a problem is small or difficult, I enjoy solving it and finding ways to make information helpful and accessible to all. Helping others accomplish their objectives or overcome obstacles is immensely satisfying and rejuvenating.
What is the best thing to do in Nepal that you would suggest to a tourist or visitor?
We need to enhance our hospitality promotion efforts aggressively by ensuring accessibility to every resource in Nepal to attract more international customers and investments. It is essential to actively promote Nepali cultural festivals and display our rich culture and environment through various international media channels. This comprehensive approach will not only boost tourism but also strengthen Nepal’s global appeal as a vibrant and culturally rich destination.
