Organised by World Vegan Organisation Nepal, The Himalayan Vegan Festival 2022 has truly revolutionised the culture of veganism in Nepal
The Soaltee Kathmandu hosted The Himalayan Vegan Festival 2022, the 7th annual international conference of World Vegan Organisation. The festival is seeing participation from Veganism grassroots activists and chefs from all over the world. The event was held at Lumbini from September 13-14, is being held at Kathmandu from September 15-17 and will be held at Pokhara on September 18-20 bringing an end to the event.
The event, unlike any other Nepalese vegan society has seen before, has seminars and exhibitions, food and product bazaar in stalls from national and international organisations, live bands and music, dance, cooking classes, fashion show, mini marathon, film screening and much more. Additionally, there is no additional entry cost meaning that the event is free to enter, for anyone.
Chefs and business owners globally and locally were seen advertising their plant-based products at Soaltee with enthusiastic vegan buyers partaking in the market. The affable nature of the transactions between buyers and sellers united by the vegan community, made the stalls and counters lively and spirited.
“By eating vegetarian food for a year, you can save the same amount of emissions as a family taking a car off the road for six months,” said Dr Dhananjay Regmi, the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board addressing the conference. “The Himalayas are more affected by climate change—a result of the carbon emissions and the message this conference sends out will help the ongoing climate change and Himalayas” he added.
If you are a vegan yourself or are interested in veganism, you would not want to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to get to know more about veganism, vegan food, vegan people and vegan culture.
