3, Dec 2018 | nepaltraveller.com

Europe is the one place that will let you travel with ease, comfort and luxury.

Travelling to one country, one city for the first time is always new and exciting, but imagine being able to travel across a few countries within a span of a few days. Europe is the one place that will let you do this with ease, comfort and luxury. The close proximity of the countries lets you explore many cities in one go; here’s a list of 5 undiscovered cities you should visit in Europe this fall.

1.    Zagreb, Croatia

A blooming city, the capital of Croatia, Zagreb is slowly becoming a popular destination for its stunning Austro-Hungarian architecture and its extensive array of museums and art galleries. With avid coffee drinkers littering the streets, Zagreb is the perfect middle ground; neither too urban nor too rural. The Croatian capital has plenty of beguiling places spread across the city; explore the streets of Tkal?i?eva, the heart of Zagreb or plan a visit to the Museum of Broken Relationships on a Thursday night when jazz fills the atmosphere.

2. Trieste, Italy

Surrounded almost entirely by Slovenia, Trieste is a secluded Italian port on the borders, bristling with life and energy offering a rich history to visitors. Trieste has amazing buffets and is often praised to have ‘the best coffee in the world’. From the historic Castello di Miramare, a grand castle facing the waters, to the scrumptious seafood at Osteria Salvagente, a lovely restaurant near the port, Trieste has plenty of exciting places for you to discover.

3. Maribor, Slovenia

Maribor, despite being the second largest city in Slovenia, houses a small population and is most commonly described as laidback but charming. The Lent District on the Drava River offers you a view to remember; the historic churches, the old Jewish Quarter and the defensive towers tell you more about its lineage than its splendid mixture of cafes and restaurants. The annual summer arts festival in Lent,  the Kurent Carnival in Ptuj, the vineyards and the skiing grounds are enough to entertain you all year round.

4. Graz, Austria

A little up north of Slovenia in Austria, Graz lies amongst the Renaissance architecture with a dash river flowing right through its center. Dotted with greenery and red roofs, the second Austrian city is a major site for history enthusiasts; the Schlossberg- ‘castle-mountain’- for its unrivalled view of the Old Town, the Armory where historic armour and weapons are preserved.

Every year Graz hosts La Strada, a street festival where street theater, acrobatics, puppet theater, dance, and more, all combine to give way to the city’s cultural life.

5. Siófok, Hungary

Hidden on the southern banks of Lake Balaton, Siofok is one of the largest city onshore and is often frequented by tourists for its pristine beaches and lively nightlife. Siofok has many attractions to scour through; the Water Tower is one place that will make your visit worthwhile with its stunning view of the Hungarian city and the lake, while the Rose Garden is sure to appeal to the romantics, being situated right next to the pier. Kitesurfing is a growing sport that is unique to Siofok and can be learned through a quick lesson on the beaches of Lake Balaton.
