Aema-K : Greece, reimagined!

Greek fare with new twists, Aema-K Restaurant in Boudha.

One of the real pleasures of hanging out in Boudha’s restaurants is the rooftop view of the stupa. But what if you get to enjoy the serene view with a European ambience, that too of Greece? Aema-K does just that. With a cosy Greecian vibe, the restaurant serves mouthwatering food prepared by chef Gopal Maharjan.

Much of the cooking here at Aema-K is inspired, and much of it is excellent. Chef Maharjan takes familiar ingredients and flavours and puts them through unfamiliar places to serve enjoyable and elegant food options. With an open kitchen that merges the indoor and outdoor space, Aema-K clearly aspires to and will almost certainly be a top choice restaurant in the Boudha area.

Talking about the food, we went ahead and ordered some of the most popular items that the restaurant has been serving since its inception a year-and-a-half ago, and boy were we in for a gastronomic treat! .

Say goodbye to dry and flavourless pork chops! The one prepared by Maharjan here at Aema-K is so juicy and tender, you will want to recommend it to everyone and their cousins. Served with gravy and a side of mashed potato, the meat had a touch of sweetness with a fatty, gamey, salty, and savory undertone.

As we were gobbling on our pork chops, our amazing server introduced us to Aema-K’s special Hawaiian pizza. We could smell the delicious combination of savory and fruity toppings as the pizza was placed on our table. This crowd-pleasing pizza tasted as good as we imagined it would and a bite of it can even convert a few anti-pineapple family members.

Next, we tasted some Spicy Schezwan Chicken. It had a balanced flavour of spices, especially that of schezwan. Perfectly marinated and cooked to perfection, the presentation was equally pleasing. No wonder the restaurant is popular amongst meat lovers.

As we were tasting the chicken, we wanted to try something lighter to go along with it and Chef Maharjan suggested we try the Cold Kelp. This savory and slightly sweet and tangy dish is pleasantly crunchy, light and delicious. It goes well with the Spicy Schezwan Chicken.

The fact of the matter is that a simple orange juice or coke with ice won’t cut it these days. Keeping that in mind, Aema-K has introduced their signature mocktail to beat the scorching summer heat. A refreshing minty and fruity flavoured mocktail, this icy drink was a treat to our full tummy.

As we were enjoying our drink, we caught up with Aema-K’s manager, Nipon Kapali, who was in a rush but spared his few minutes to make sure we had a good time. “Our main aim here at Aema-K is to provide a cozy and chill place to our guests by providing the best hospitality and both quality and quantity worth food,” he shared. And that is exactly what the restaurant does. So, if you’re in Boudha and want to taste some utterly good food, you know where to be!
