Within 18 miles in the south east from Kathmandu valley lies a beautiful place called Phulchowki, named after 'Phul', to reflect flowers, the actual meaning, as it is quite famous for the varieties of flowers found in this place, specially the Roses.

With the height of 2782m, Pulchowki hill stands exceptionally tall in comparison to other hills around. Being the tallest hill around the Kathmandu valley, it is covered all over with snow during winter and even in summer, the temperature is cool up there. As it the highest viewpoint around the valley, It offers stunning views of Annapurna Range, several hills of Nepal, Kathmandu valley itself and a slight view of the Mount Everest in the Horizon. 


While trekking through the woods in Pulchowki, you can encounter a lot of wild Roses, along with Iris, Yellow Jasmine and a lot of native flowers. The hills are covered with tall Rhododendron, Magnolia, Oaks and Pine trees. For a short day visit and hike, Pulchowki hill is one of the most exciting and scenic places, a place to escape from the crowd for a day and to be within the arms of mother nature.
At the end of the trek, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of 360 degree wide angle views of the most stunning Himalayan peaks.

Getting there 

To start the Phulchowki Hill trek, you will first need to get to the Godawari bus stop, for that you will have to take a bus from Gongabu Bus Park to Satdobato first, then you’re supposed to look for a bus that goes to Godawari bus stop from Satdobato. The first 1km of your journey will be comfortable enough but after that the road is totally a graveled. Following that gravel path through the dense forests, you will come across some area, abundantly decorated with prayer flags that will surely brighten up your mood. As you get closer to the top, you’ll reach a checkpoint where you will have to submit your details to the Army Officers supposed to protect the phulchowki hills. A short distance from there and you’ll be able to start your trek towards the top of Phulchowki Hill.
