Always sprouting with innovative ideas that capture the attention of all food connoisseurs, Hotel Shangri-La Kathmandu strikes the chord yet again with a Biryani and Beer Festival ‘Lucknowai Zaaika with Biryani & Beer’ which will run through August 1 to 16. With a history of fests that are unique, Hotel Shangri-La Kathmandu is all set for the month of August.
Biryani has been associated with royalty since centuries owing to the fact that the Nawabs and rulers loved the dish. This dish is popular among the Indian sub-continent due to its unique taste. It is essentially made of rice cooked in spices and chicken or mutton to accompany it. Vegetarian options are also fairly popular these days. Of all the different types of biryanis, Lucknowai Biryani and Hyderabadi Biryani are the most popular. Hotel Shangri-La Kathmandu brings to Nepal the heart of India with Lucknowai Biryani. Add a can of cool beer with this heart-filling dish and one is ready to dine and wine like the royals!
The first day of the fest saw the presence friends, media and a special guest, Neelam Chand, Miss Nepal contestant who indulged in the Nawabi delicacy!
“Our aim is to focus on the milder side of biryani suited best for our customers and visitors. Biryani is a dish known for its unique taste and we wanted to bring that to the table,” said Executive Chef, Vikram Seth.
The fest will be held at Shambala Garden and the famed Lost Horizon Café of Hotel Shangri- La Kathmandu. The ambience is fitting to the theme with arching trees, lush green grass and scented flowers surrounding the tables. Three different types of Biryani- Chicken, Mutton and Vegetarian are the options among which visitors can choose one. Along with each portion, Nepal Ice beer of 650 ml is accompanied.
The festival offers non-vegetarian options at Rs 1550 per portion and Rs 1350 for the vegetarian option. What a regal way to lunch or dine: with biryani on your plate and a beer in your hand!
