The new restaurant Bungalow Bar & Kitchen has been serving authentic Thai cuisine and Asian fusion not only to full bellies but to full hearts as well

Walking into Bungalow Bar & Kitchen from the busy streets of Naxal, you are transported to an exotic land. The vibrant coloured walls, soothing Thai music makes you forget that you are at the heart of this bustling city. Prepare your taste buds for a sensational culinary adventure into the authentic Thai flavours and Asian Fusion menu at this restaurant.

An abandoned sweet factory transformed into a warm and cosy restaurant with almost a year of renovations, Bungalow Bar & Kitchen is the place to hang out with friends and families or go on a date and discover the tastes of Thailand. The kitchen staff were extensively trained by a Thai chef for two months. So it is clear to say that when you walk in for a quick lunch of red, green or yellow curry and rice or for a fine dining experience, you will leave this restaurant with a full belly and smile on your face.

The first dish that was brought out for us was from their Asian fusion menu, Honey Glazed BBQ Pork. As soon as the plate is on the table, the aroma is guaranteed to make anyone salivate. The dish consists of five to six pieces of pork covered in the cooked marinade and sesame seeds sprinkled on top with a side of salad. The well-done pork was juicy and tender, the slight char from the BBQ gave it a smoky taste and the honey glaze sweetened it. A wonderful starter to indulge in, it is a favourite among guests.

Next, we were served another starter from their Thai menu, BBQ Pork Salad. This hearty salad is just the right dish to order to get your taste buds tingling for more. Thinly sliced lean pork meat barbecued and mixed along with fresh green herbs covered in a sweet, tangy and spicy dressing gives it a well-rounded taste.

Then, we were served a scrumptious vegetarian dish, Crispy Veg Tofu. Crispy battered tofu topped with finely julienned vegetables drizzled with a sweet and spicy vinaigrette was a light and healthy delight to snack on. Specially made for vegetarians always looking for an interesting choice, this dish does not even use eggs.

The next dish is a favourite, you should definitely look forward to tasting it. The Red Curry lunch set, made with the ingredients all the way from Thailand, delivered the authentic Thai taste. The complexly spiced curry with rich tastes from coconut milk was a perfect accompaniment to the plain rice. This dish was served with a side of salty, savoury stir-fried vegetables and Som Tum Thai (famous spicy Thai salad made with raw papayas). They also serve lunch sets of Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Thai and Tom Yum Veg Fried Rice.

Another one of their speciality main dishes was Bungalow Special Dumpling, the plump and juicy chicken dumplings with the spicy chilli oil was a burst of flavours in every bite.

After a meal of spicy and savoury dishes, the Sticky rice with Mango is a popular dessert for everyone. The sweet sticky rice was cooked al dente accompanied by the seasonal mango slices.

As the salty, sweet, sour and spicy flavours linger on your palate, you walk out of Bungalow with a full belly and full heart or ‘im jai’ as the Thai people say.
