The ‘Dim Sums and Soups Festival’, June 19 - June 29, is a delight and Akari & Koko at Vivanta Kathmandu has masterfully created 23 variants of the classic staple and 16 different soups. Head Chef at Akari & Koko, Vijay Lama and his culinary team has crafted each variant with passion and precision.
Special broths influenced by the Chinese cuisine such as the Lemon Coriander, Spicy Miso, Spicy sea-food, Tom kha gai, Hot and sour chicken and Chicken jade complemented the varieties of melt-in-the-mouth dim sums.
Before gorging on these delicacies, you might want to know a little about how they're made from the chef. These bite-sized dishes served in steamer baskets are encased carefully in potato starch, making it a detail-oriented task.
The specialties – Corn and pepper crystal dumpling, Spinach corn dumpling, Pok choi and mushroom dumpling, Shanghai chicken dumpling, Chicken Cashew nut dumpling, Chicken Kothe are some of the mouthwatering culinary creations.
A whole new world of seafood, lamb, beef and pork dim sums is what you don’t want to miss next. Prawn siu mai, Mixed sea-food, Pink crab dumpling, Spicy lamb dumpling, Beef siu mai, Spinach wrap chili pork dumplings, Buddhist bao (Veg), Moo shu pork open bao are feasts for the eyes and your taste buds.
Priced reasonably at Rs 1500 ++ per person the all you can eat dim sum festival comes with a range of select liquor for guests to enjoy. The opening of the festival on June 19 was further livened by their weekly special Ladies Night.
