As a woman in a leadership role, what challenges have you faced in the finance and hospitality industry, and how have you overcome them?

There can be moments where being a woman in a leadership role means I have to work harder to earn recognition and credibility. I’ve faced situations where my expertise was questioned, or my input wasn't valued in the same way as that of my male colleagues. However, I’ve never let this deter me. Instead, to overcome the challenges, I always emphasized continuous learning, used it as an opportunity to constantly refine my skills and showcase the strength of my leadership through results and the success of the teams I have built.

What advice would you give to young women aspiring to build a career in finance and business management?

My advice to young women aspiring to build a career in finance and business management is simple: believe in yourself, work hard, and never stop learning. The finance industry can sometimes feel intimidating, but remember that knowledge is power, and continuous learning is the key to staying ahead. Surround yourself with mentors who support and challenge you, and seek opportunities to build both technical skills and leadership qualities. Don’t be afraid to take risks or ask for the opportunities you deserve—sometimes the biggest barrier is our own self-doubt. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and always maintain your integrity. Your unique perspective as a woman can be a powerful asset to any organization.

How do you see the role of women evolving in Nepal’s hospitality and finance sectors?

I see the role of women in Nepal’s hospitality and finance sectors evolving positively. More women are stepping into leadership roles and making significant contributions. In hospitality, women are increasingly taking on management and operational positions, bringing in qualities like strong communication and empathy, which are essential in creating welcoming experiences for guests.

Similarly, In the finance sector, women are breaking barriers and moving into areas like financial management, analysis, and leadership. This shift is helping to bring more diverse perspectives into decision-making. While there are still challenges, such as overcoming stereotypes and balancing work and family responsibilities, the future looks bright. With more support for women in these fields, I believe we will continue to see women playing a bigger and more influential role in shaping these industries in Nepal.
