It's good to plan what you want to do and where you want to stay but you also need to be open to changing plans.

More and more tourists are choosing Nepal as their holiday destination. However, it is natural for travellers to feel wary and doubtful of visiting a new country they haven’t been to before and they don’t speak the language. That’s why we have  prepared the ultimate Nepal travel guide to help you out during your visit.

AVOID TAXIS AND HIRE A DRIVER

Taxis are always a budget buster. Renting a car or hiring a driver is far cheaper. Never, ever take a taxi unless you absolutely have to. If you hire a driver, take a photo of the car and license plate. This will help you find him once you are finished at the museum or wherever you happen to be.

CARRY A UNIVERSAL ADAPTER

One of the most useful travel tips to Nepal that you can get is to carry a universal adapter with you during your travels. Nepal uses 220V plugs, and you can easily pick up an adapter at any electronic store in your city, or even at a Duty-Free at the airport.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT HISTORICAL SITES IS BEFORE LUNCHTIME

Be a contrarian. You'll have fewer crowds getting in your way as big tour buses, groups, and most travellers head to lunch. It's always best to visit an attraction super early, late, or when people eat. You'll have even the most popular places to yourself!

CARRY ENERGY BARS FOR YOUR TREKS

Even the basic food tend to be more expensive in remote areas than in the city due to the transportation difficulties

YOU NEED A TREKKING PERMIT

This is basically a trekking card for all hikes in the country, while you'll also need specific permits for some of the more remote treks like Mustang, Dolpa, and Kanchenjunga. You need to register at the Nepal Tourism Office.

ENTRANCE FEE AT TEMPLES

Keep in mind that there may be an entrance fee to some of the common temples and public areas applicable only to foreigners ranging anywhere from Rs. 250 too 700.

ASK THE LOCALS

Always willing to talk to foreigners, they can be your local guide. You might be able to experience something unique.

BE FLEXIBLE AND DON'T OVER PLAN YOUR TRIP

It's good to plan what you want to do and where you want to stay but you also need to be open to changing plans. Let your days unfold naturally. Schedule two or three things and let the day fill in the rest on its own. It's less stressful, and letting the day just take you is one of the best ways to travel.
