The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has planned to hold a program today in honor of the 25th anniversary of National Earthquake Safety Day
The 25th National Earthquake Safety Day has been symbolically celebrated at Geopark. Kathmandu Metropolitan City had prepared to hold a program today in the presence of Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane at the Earthquake Memorial Memorial built in Geopark.
“A program of laying flowers at the memorial was held today as the government declared a public holiday after the plane of Yeti Airlines flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara crashed in Pokhara on Sunday morning,” said Navin Manandhar, spokesman of the Metropolitan Municipality.
The department heads of the Metropolitan Municipality were present in the program. Preparations were made to celebrate the 25th National Earthquake Safety Day by organizing various programs across the country today in memory of the earthquake that occurred on Magh 2, 1990 at 2:24 in the afternoon.
Preparations were made to celebrate the day with the slogan 'Earthquake safe infrastructure, the basis of safe life'. Since 2055, 2nd of Magh has been celebrated as National Earthquake Safety Day. The government started celebrating this day with the aim of raising public awareness about future earthquakes.
“The program postponed on Monday will be held within a week,” said Surendra Mohan Shrestha, Coordinator of Publicity Committee and Director General of the Urban Development and Building Construction Department.
