The Samachakeva festival, a symbol of love between brothers and sisters, has started in Mithilanchal from today. The festival starts from Panchami today and will last for ten days. On the eleventh day of the full moon, the festival will end with the immersion of Samachkeva at night.

For ten days, the women of Mithilanchal, including sisters and daughters, play Samachakeva wishing their brothers longevity. On this morning, the sisters of they sing song in groups and goes to the fields and hillsides of the village, dug soil from the hands of their brothers and makes various kinds of artistic samachakevas.

After it dries in the evening, it is filled with different colors to make colorful samachakeva. The girls will play the song and dance for ten days in their locality.

On the eleventh day, the sisters rebuild the Samachkeva in the morning, dye it, dry it all day, feed it in the evening, fill it with the brothers' fangs, and take them to the fields plowed in the village forest. Accordingly, in this festival, sisters go to their relatives to play Samachakeva.

Those who do not have brothers and sisters celebrate this festival with their brothers and sisters in the neighborhood. It is believed that playing Samachakeva will prolong the life of brothers and sisters and strengthen the relationship with sisters. The festival is popular in Mahottari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Dhanusha, Saptari, Bara, Rautahat and Parsa districts of the Terai and bordering Indian districts.

The Samachkeva festival arrives in Mithilanchal a day before the present day of Chhath festival. Along with the preparations for Chhath, the sisters also prepare materials for this festival.
