After more than 20 years, the Hanuman dance was performed, and as children and young adults danced, it attracted a lot of people’s attention

The Hanuman dance was performed by 13-year-old Aprim Shrestha from Benibazar. The Hanuman dance, which has not been performed in Beni for 22 years, was performed at the seventh Myagdi festival this time. The Hanuman dance, which was performed after more than two decades, attracted the attention of many people as children and young people danced.

Mankakhal trained the new generation to perform at the Hanuman dance festival, which is known as the historical cultural heritage of the Newar community. Six-year-old Arbharaj Shrestha and six-year-old Salin Shrestha danced in the Naganagini dance performed by Mankakhal at the festival.

As the influence of other cultures increases, as the threat of losing their original culture increases, the ethnic groups of Myagdi have become aware of preserving their original art, tradition, and culture.

In August 2057, a Hanuman dance was performed to raise funds for the construction of Mai Bhagwati temple in Beni. Since then, due to the lack of artists and the lack of transmission of the dance, Mankakhal revived the dance, which had been lost. Actors dressed as Hanuman to the beat of mridanga and cymbals participated in this dance.

In order to preserve the Hanuman dance, which can be performed by a maximum of 11 couples, the Nepal language Mankakhal Myagdi has conducted the training. The Kshatriya community performed their traditional Sarun dance and the Gurung community performed the Ghatu dance at the time of the Myagdi festival.

The festival has become a means of bringing the culture of Magaunghar to the city. Raghuganga rural municipality-7 has become the attraction of the thali dance festival which started from Chimkhola.

Radhakrishna dance, which is a local original culture of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-7 Takam, was performed in Beni, while Thakali, Magar, Chantal, Pariyar, and other castes displayed their culture, costumes, and traditions in the festival.

Ratayuli performance, which is considered an important part of Nepali weddings, became another attraction at the festival. Ratyauli, presented by the Brahmin society and the Chhetri society in an original way, along with Takam and Rakse's mother groups, gave the audience the impression of a wedding. The women themselves played instruments, went to public, became bridegrooms and brides, giving a glimpse of marriage, and the audience danced to the nightly songs and dances.

In the context of the increasing influence of modernity in the festivals held all over the country, emphasis was placed on reviving the endangered and lost culture at the Myagdi Festival. Competitions are included in the festival to revive the original culture. Traditional dances of Magar, Chantyal, and other castes are also organized in the festival. In the Pukhryuli dance in which four groups participated, the Pukhryuli group of Annapurna Rural Municipality-8 Kafaldanda emerged victorious.

The festival emphasizes the identification and search of hidden talents and the preservation of original culture. The single folk dance competition has been completed and the folk song and Gandaki folk star competition have also been included in the festival. The festival, which has become a place to showcase the talent of local artists, has become musical with the performances of the artists, and the festival venue has become buzzing with the musical performances of artists from Naumati Baja.

“Hanuman dance was performed by training new artists in the absence of original artists and the culture could not be passed on to the new generation,” said Sanjay Kumar Shrestha, cultural coordinator of Mankakhal.

“The festival has made the general community aware of the preservation of their culture, costumes, and traditions. This time, we have emphasized the promotion of art, culture and tourism along with the promotion of business, every community is putting on its original presentation on a daily basis,” said Bel Bahadur Katuwal, President of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Every day new artists perform thali dances. Due to the fact that local artists were given priority in the festival, this time the festival has become a place to show art and culture within the district,” said Suvin Shrestha, the senior vice president of the Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who is also the cultural coordinator of the festival._Rss
