Cabinet meeting approved the budget for Visit Nepal Year 2020
The government has allocated Rs100 million for the Visit Nepal Year 2020. A cabinet meeting on April 11, 2019 decided to allocate the sum to the main organising committee of the Visit Nepal Year 2020.
The state-sponsored campaign had lost its momentum after the death of Tourism Minister Rabindra Prasad Adhikari in a helicopter crash on February 27,2019.
The cabinet meeting likewise decided to give the authority to the national program coordinator to spend 10 per cent of the budget and extra 15 per cent to the program execution sub-committee according to the need, as per Suraj Vaidhya, coordinator of Visit Nepal 2020 campaign.
“There had been some delays due to procedural hassles. Now the budget and work procedure has got approval and we expect to expedite the preparation for the Visit Nepal Year 2020,” he said.
Member Secretary of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 Secretariat Deepak Raj Joshi, who is also the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, said that the campaign officially kicked off from Pokhara on the Nepali New Year and they will not carry out other promotional events.
