Kanchenjunga Sanctuary Trek
Standing at staggering 8586 meters Mt. Kanchenjunga has a charm and ambiance of its own. Owing to the submissive climate and calm quaint valleys across the journey Kanchenjunga Sanctuary Trek never fails to amaze any of its explorers. Sharing its main body with Sikkim in India and Taplejung district of Nepal, Mt. Kanchenjunga stands as the 3rd highest peak on face of the earth after K2 and Everest. The region surrounding Mt. Kanchenjunga is preserved as a conservation area owing to the abundant flora and fauna and wildlife present in the region.
A special permit needs to be obtained in order to visit the Kanchenjunga region and requires at least 19 days of travelling and trekking to reach the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Full of quaint villages, thick forests and lush green valleys are what makes the trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp(5160 meters) also known as Pang Pema Base Camp. One needs to take multiple flights to atleast get to the starting point of the trek which is Suketar. You take a 35 min flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar and followingly take another flight of 15-20 minutes to reach Suketar. Followingly, days of trek through small quaint villages, numerous streams and submissive mountains finally takes you to the base of majestic Mount Kanchenjunga. It is recommended to those seeking unexplored hidden gems of Nepalese Himalayas.
