Sri Lanka is an island country situated in the Indian Ocean and separated from peninsular India by the Palk Strait. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal in the east and Gulf of Mannar in the west, you can expect distinctive dry and wet climate depending on the places you visit. A place full of diversity and arousing nature will only make you do things you can’t do in your country and these are some of them.
The first place you’ll be arriving in is Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. Previously known for being a dangerous, transit island to visit, it is now a refashioned popular tourist hotspot offering many cultural, historical and nightlife attractions. The city is based on a characteristic harbour, deliberately situated along the old East-West ocean exchange courses. It's normal to see Buddhist sanctuaries, Hindu Kovils, houses of worship and mosques arranged just a couple of meters from each other. The Gangarama Buddhist sanctuary and the New Kathiresan Kovil draw in throngs of the neighborhood and remote sightseers consistently. The Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque is well known as a historical point of Colombo.
Sri Lanka was broadly portrayed by Marco Polo as one of the finest islands on the planet and it has a history that goes back thousands of years. Despite the fact that it's little, there is so much history and cultural places to visit. Galapatha Raja Maha Vihara Buddhist temple, in Bentota, is a peaceful place where the third disciple of Buddha lies buried in the Stupa. This sanctuary is believed to have been made in the twelfth century, however, it was pulverized by the Dutch in the sixteenth century and therefore was rebuilt giving it a newer look. The Temple of the tooth, in Kandy (centre of Buddhist faith on the island), is rather a fascinating Buddhist temple. Visiting this place will be an educational trip as you will learn the history of the tooth. In the central highlands and surrounding area of the island is the Cultural Triangle, an area full of historic and religious remains and temples. The main attractions are the temples of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, the rock top fortress of Sigiriya and the cave temple at Dambulla.

Sri Lanka is one of the world's biggest exporters of tea with a thundering tea industry that commands the island's focal good countries. Drinking tea is an imperative piece of Sri Lankan culture. In recent years, tea tourism has been attracting people from all over the world and every tea manufacturing plant offers a tea voyage of some sort. The visits don't take too long and should be possible while you are going through the tea nation.
Sigiriya is a standout amongst the most popular destinations in Sri Lanka. It is also known as the Eighth Wonder of the World by the locals. One of the most striking features of Sigiriya is its Mirror wall. Pidurangala is an enormous rock found a couple of kilometres north of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. It has a fascinating history firmly identified with that of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climbing to the highest point of Pidurangala Shake is more strenuous than climbing Sigiriya, however, it is a climb worth making.
A trip to Sri Lanka without visiting the beaches is like going to a football ground and not kicking a ball. Sri Lanka, being an Island with a massive coastline is a place with a lot of beaches where you can choose to go. Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, or Mirissa are few beaches to visit. Arugam Bay, which is the Eastern province of Sri Lanka, offers you activities like surfing as it is one of the top ten surfing spots in the world. Absorb yourself the standard brilliant sand while appreciating the radiant sound of the strong Indian Ocean crashing against the shores.
