The free accommodation service Stopover launched last year by Turkish Airlines has brought 14 thousand transfer passengers together over the year. Long connection transfer passengers have experienced the privilege of discovering Istanbul with this Stopover application.

A boon for travellers; with the hotel cheque to be issued after purchasing the tickets, passengers with over 20 hours connection period get one night in a 4-star property (economy class) and two nights in 5-star property (business class). Centrally located passengers can get a lot more ticked off their must-visit sites in the city as well.

The Stopover application started in Pakistan in March, 2017 which further grew in June to include Russia. Over the course of a year 14 thousand passengers from 18 different countries took to exploring Istanbul without any additional charges during their travels.

Ahmet Olmu?tur, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Turkish Airlines said, “With our application we commenced a year ago, we provide our passengers with an opportunity of experiencing Turkish hospitality and the unique beauties of Istanbul. We had started with two countries, and today, we have enlarged the coverage of this service to 19 countries. Upon the demands received, we will offer this service to 10 more countries, including China and India, in the third quarter of the year 2018. We fly to 122 countries; the path is clear for our project."

The number of transfer passengers to come to Istanbul is expected to rise with the coming up of Istanbul’s new airport.
