Turkish Airlines announces World Golf Cup to Kathmandu

On the 4th of May, 2018 the press release for Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup took place in Hotel Radisson. The event took place to announce the airline's much-awaited Golf Competition to Kathmandu. Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Amateur Series was launched previously in 2013 with 12 qualifying events. The 2018 series will visit 100 destinations in 63 countries. 

The first round will be taking place on the 12th of May in Gokarna Forest Resort. The winner from Nepal will be participating in the final Golf World Cup that will be taking place in Turkey. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, the General Manager of Turkish Airlines in Kathmandu expressed about how he aims to see the growth of golf in the country through these tournaments. The event also featured Deepak Acharya, Senior Golf Director of Gokarna Forest Resort and Bhairaja Pandey, Executive Committee Member of Gokarna Forest Resort. 

Qualifying events are hosted at premium venues around the globe with the winner from each qualifying event progressing to play in the Grand Finals. The final stage of the tournament allows lucky winners to play alongside some of the world's best players in the Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am, with past winners partnering Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and Martin Kaymer.
