In the advent of Nepali New Year, Sunrise Restaurant at Hotel Yak & Yeti is serving a six-course dinner accompanied by a three-piece instrumental live band on the eve.
The six-course dinner consists of fresh and innovative combinations of the Nepali and Newari cuisine. Executive Chef Mr. Sagar Singh Rawat has taken inspiration from conventional Nepali and Newari dishes like the sel roti, gwarmari, piro aloo, poleko chicken, jhol momo etc and has transformed it in into a gourmet version of these dishes. To name a few,  masu ledo and dhido gundruk, sel roti and matka kulfi, aloo sadeko tacos and gol bhenda achar, millefoglie of aloo bodi tama, are some of the dishes available. The dinner is priced at Rs. 2500 plus taxes.

Although Nepali cuisine is a new ground for Chef Mr. Sagar Singh Rawat, he has succeeded in taking it to new heights. He says, “For the Nepali New Year’s Eve dinner we are going to put together a progressive Nepali cuisine. In Nepal, we mostly find restaurants doing traditional food; I have tried giving it a modern twist. We keep the authenticity of the flavours as it is supposed to be but we give it a new look and presentation. The way we are used to eating Nepali food is very home-style, platter to plate dishes or sharing, but we want to give it an element of fine dining and divide the dinner into courses.” He further adds, “We have kept the classical flavours but have added new elements to it. The combination also needs to work; it’s not only about making it fancy. The combination of flavours needs to work. Putting all these different components together makes it exciting to play with and work together.
