Gout de France is currently in its fourth year. The French Embassy in Kathmandu organized a press conference on 5th March at the residence of France to introduce the fourth edition of "Gout de France". It has gained international success in the recent years.

Gout de France is a unique global event held on 5 continents in over 150 countries which involves French embassies abroad and chefs from around the world. The event is taking place on 21st March with an objective of celebrating French gastronomy with the local products and talent. Around 3,000 restaurants from across the world will be participating.

According to the French Ambassador to Nepal, Mr Yves Carmona, "There is a traditional strong link between diplomacy and gastronomy. There was a cuisine 'a la Francaise' already in the 14th century, well before there were permanent embassies." According to him, although the event is French, it can be considered a Nepali event since almost all the restaurants and schools participating are run by Nepalis. This exemplifies the spirit of the openness of French gastronomy as well as a testament of Nepali talent.

This year eight restaurants and schools will be participating in the event from Nepal. Following is a list of the eight participating restaurants and schools:

  1. The Old House Pvt. Ltd
  2. Garden Terrace / Soaltee Crowne Plaza
  3. La Terrace / Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education (GATE)

  5. The Chimney Fine Dining / Hotel Yak and Yeti
