Nepal’s Third Participation at India Art Fair 2018

Nepal Art Council (NAC) at Kathmandu, Nepal announces its third participation at India Art Fair 2018, 9-12 February 2018. The Nepal Art Council at India Art Fair builds on the successes of past editions of each year.

Nepal’s Participation at the fair is coordinated by Mr Sagar SJB Rana, Vice-Chairman, Nepal Art Council, and curated by Swosti Rajbhandari Kayastha, Curator at Nepal Art Council, and will showcase the artworks of 7 artists – Chirag Bangdel, Jeevan Rajopadhya, Mekh Limbu, Rabindra Shrestha, Sabita Dangol, Sujan Dangol, and Sunita Maharjan.

Nepali art has recently gained an unprecedented momentum in the last few years, with talented emerging artists covering a wide array of subjects ranging from global and local politics, socio-cultural issues, awareness campaigns, resplendent landscapes to natural and cultural heritage. “The growing number of talented emerging artists of diverse ethnicity and social background have created a happy fusion of the east and west to underline the coming of age of Nepali art to mix and match with the rest of the world”, said Swosti Rajbhandari Kayastha, Curator at Nepal Art Council.

Last year, the Huffington Post, a premier American online news aggregator and blog declared Nepal Art Council to showcase one among the twelve 'must see' artworks at the India Art Fair 2017. Like the previous India Art Fair, this year too, Nepal Art Council presents the best of the contemporary Nepali art by seven coveted names in the field. Their works are visual metaphors of contemporary Nepali society, emotional struggles, spiritual and human connections, together with artistic imaginations unfolded on canvas providing a multi-faceted engagement with the viewers.

India Art Fair, is an annual Indian modern and contemporary art fair held in New Delhi, India. The fair includes paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, prints, drawings and video art from carefully selected galleries from across Asia, Europe, South America, the United Kingdom and the United States.
